Keyword Explosion

I generally dislike Jonathan Leger's sales pages but he's pulled out all stops for Keyword Explosion:

  • the sales copy is over the top & far too long
  • it doesn't really convey the potential of this Google Adwords keywords database &
  • the graphic he's used to promote the product is created using software that's about five years old, making the package look really cheap & tacky, which is pretty bold, considering it originally went on sale at $197 (which I bought it at).

Keyword Explosion: Adsense database

However, that's good news for you, because you can be sure that many Google Adsense publishers have judged this online database by its cover.

Don't be fooled, this is a powerful tool in the right hands, giving you a sound financial basis upon which to create pages for Adsense. You type in your keyword and Keyword Explosion harvests the latest  Adwords bid prices in moments, taking much of the guesswork out of wondering what Adsense pages to create. Re-read that sentence if you wish, it's important!

The data is based upon highest prices paid for Google Adwords, which unfortunately varies exponentially e.g. the Adwords prices for the term "credit score" might be:

The Downward Exponential of Adsense Earnings

Position 1    $12.80

Position 3    $9.39

Position 4    $5.25

Position 10  $1.15

Position 40  $0.05

...As you can see, the lower bid prices are pretty small and if you only get the 10th and the 40th advertiser for the day, you might only earn a percentage of $1.15 + $0.05 = a percentage of $1.20

N.B.: If marketer A bids for Position 1 @ $12.80, he might have a budget of $100, which would enable him to pay for seven clicks, not just one!

Further, it's virtually impossible to predict your Adsense income as Google judges your site by so many parameters, not just by the click itself.  To maximize earnings, you really have to receive your Adsense payments first and tweak your site later!

Nevertheless, Keyword Explosion still provides you with really good, easily sortable data.

Its second component is a function which allows you to find to see how likely it would be for any page created for a particular keyword to rank well on the major search engines (similar to project 4 in Keyword Elite), which is also very useful in deciding whether you'll want to create your pages or not.

I have seen a considerably more advanced alternative to Keyword Explosion, a $47m membership site (now still functioning but closed to new members) that uses the same data but breaks it down more (as in the box above).

That would be great for PROS but with Keyword Explosion now clocking in at only $67, it shouldn't be too hard to get your money's worth. I use it almost every day and I can't imagine how somebody building Adsense sites could do without it!
