Keyword Elite

I can't say that I'm much of a fan of the Keyword Elite sales page, there are all those garish fonts, direct marketing scare tactics, pictures of huge cheques dangled in front of your nose...you get the picture but I have to tell you, don't let them put you off!

Go to the sales page, skim past the text and have a look at the videos (still narrated with enthusiastic hype,) and you'll see 5 marvellous pieces of software in action, each performing a different keyword research function, for 3 different markets.

Better still, check my list first and decide which one to see:

Pay Per Click:

Project 1: Go to Overture, Ask.com, Google, meta tags, misspellings, Wordtracker & create a keyword list. Then sort, cull, cull some more, which sounds like a long time but isn't, really and export the list to your Google Ad account. You can then create your own ads there (you can use the ads by current advertisers as a swipe file if you wish) without even leaving Keyword Elite

Project 2 Analyse PPC competition in Google, Yahoo, Miva & Enhance and then use that INFO to run vastly more efficient PPC campaigns

Project 5* Spy on your Google Adwords competition, see which of their ads are working, just how long they've been working for, what the landing pages are etc. Yes, it's sneaky but excellent data for affiliate marketers, who can replicate (or improve) the campaigns

Dangers Inherent In PPC Spying

Beware! When using Keyword Elite for PPC spying, don't be fooled by assuming that long-running Adwords campaigns are neccessarily profitable. Always check the landing pages of other campaigns (use your browser, don't click the ad.) to see what your opposition is...and how much they know about what they're doing.

1   Many PPC campaigns are run by employees who don't test and track every campaign, they just work on overall profitability.  So, if they're running 20 campaigns and 10 are running at a loss but overall, it's making money, they just keep doing what they're doing...and the boss knows nothing, he's just happy that he's making a profit!

2   And on the other hand, savvy internet marketers run  other campaigns at a loss because they can:

2a beat the competition &

2b make up the defecit with backend selling e.g.:

  • a Clickbank INFO product might cost $97, creating say $40 profit after returns.
  • The Google Adwords Campaign might cost $45 per sale, making a $5 loss per unit, a $50 loss for every 10 sales
  • however, 4 out of 10 purchasers join his list, making him an average of 4 X $1 every week, about $208 per year
  • 2 people in 10 purchase the sellers own INFO product at $97, making another $194 profit &
  • 1 person in 10 purchases his resell package for $37

So, the Google Adwords campaign costs $50 but makes $439 over the year. Even if he was to index in a percentage of those profits as running costs e.g. $100, the campaign would still be close to $350 in front over a year., which would definitely be worth continuing.

Get it?

Consequently, you should never assume that a long-running Adwords campaign is profitable.

Adsense:

  • Project 3 Create Adsense Pages automatically. Find articles for your exact keyword and export them from Keyword Elite. Personally, I find this a very retro approach to Adsense and don't recommend it as a page maker...though as a search tool, it's fine

Websites:

  • Project 4 How competitive is the market? Find out how well top ranked websites are optimized ands work out whether you should target the market. Pretty useful for a ball-park picture, especially if yyou drill into the sites and see what the competition is beyond the stats.

Well, that's all fine and dandy but how does Keyword Elite rate in relation to other keyword tools? Is it better than Wordtracker?

Unfortunately, I can't answer that. A keyword tool is a lot like a modern day car, there is no "best" one. It all depends on what your needs and your tastes. Personally, I love the "feel" of all Bryxen's software and I don't really care for Wordtracker's. That's not to say one is better, only your own results can demonstrate that. Using the car analogy again, plenty of folks get better use out of an old bomb than some yuppie with a Porsche.

Keyword Elite: excellent software from Brad Callan & BryxenI won't kid you, Keyword Elite has a learning curve but it's really worthwhile if you put in the hours. Bryxen Software (I recommend 4 on this site), is always very user-friendly and intuitive with reasonably frequent updates and if you're at all experienced with keyword software, it should only take you an hour or two to get the feel of it.

There's also a very active forum if you get a bit lost and prompt support if you really need it. Some folks seem to find it a little slow (to be fair, it's crunching an awful lot of data)  but that's not a problem for me because I have a pretty powerful computer.

I'm not going to say much more, Keyword Elite is for PROS or people who want to be PROS and I consider it a small investment for its potential return. The key is that you have to use it, Keyword Elite won't do it for you.

*I presume Project 5 is a late addition, hence breaking the consecutive numerals for the different Keyword Elite pay-per-click projects.
