You're on the internet. You want to sell something. You're an internet marketer, it's as simple as that. However, although internet marketing has long been tarred by the brush of Get Rich Quick schemes, there are some very legitimate ways to earn money on the web.
I created this part of the site because I felt strongly that having been a full-time PRO on the net for the last few years, there wasn't a comprehensive overview of the internet marketing phenomenon.
In fact, there was quite a bit of misinformation and rather a lot of hype, so I've attempted to break the basic components down by guiding you to the very best resources while throwing in little bits of my experiences.
Even when you find the right information, however, it can still be confusing in that there is such a cross-over between the various types of internet marketing, that it can become very confusing.
So, with the risk of appearing pedantic, I've tried to stress the differences, and provide a reasonably comprehensive intro to the main components of internet marketing...
Two Internet Marketing giants, Stepehen Pierce & Yanik Silver
Affiliate Marketing involves promoting a company's products and gaining a commission. It's perhaps the oldest and most established form of internet marketing and you can do it by:
recommending products on forums
sending emails (SPAM Marketing?)
reviewing products on blogs or websites
advertising on Adwords
and possibly even more ways
Mostly though, Affiliate Marketing is at its purest in the creation of a Niche website that provides great content (see below) you'll find two great intros to Affiliate Marketing by two real PROS:
Rosalind Gardner's Super Affiliate Handbook. a very good introduction to Affiliate Marketing by one of internet marketing's first superstars
Then, an intro to:
Amazon. Many webmasters deal exclusively in creating sites for Amazon's wide range of products
Clickbank, the home of digital INFO products on the web, which frequently offers a 50% commission for every sale and sometimes, even more
Plus:
Build a Niche Store An interesting way to use eBay's RSS feeds
Adsense would hardly seem to belong in Niche Marketing, it's the way for millions of websites around the world to gain some well-earned cash. I had strongly felt that perhaps I shouldn't have Adsense in this section and instead place it in the more general "Websites". However, there's no doubt that it's Niche Marketers who've done the most research as to how to maximize Adsense earnings, with 3 products, in particular, worth looking at:
Michael Cheney's Adsense Videos the best how-to guide around
Adsense Gold a tracking script that provides you with excellent feedback on your Adsense pages, far better than the Google stats
Keyword Explosion, a database of Adwords Keywords that are briilliant for using as a base to create Adsense pages
...so in the end I believed that Adsense should have its home here.
1 Writing articles to post at article banks like Ezine Articles.com which promote or lead to an affiliate product (Affiliate Marketing). The articles are usually reviews or comparisons to previous products. You'll find that quite a few Clickbank products are promoted this way.
The two resources that I recommend are are very powerful when done in the right way:
Instant Article Wizard a brilliant piece of software that pulls in RSS headlines for your keyword, which you can "borrow" for your own articles
Article Submittera FREE piece of software which automates the process of sending your articles to article banks
2 The second form of Article Marketing is using articles to create content sites purely for income from Google Adsense. This option is looked at in some detail in Niche Marketing, directly above.
Direct Marketing means selling through a call-to-action and irrespective of whatever marketing you're involved in, I strongly recommend that you investigate Marlon Sanders. His advice will almost certainly change the way you look at marketing, communication, copywriting...and just being able to make sense on the web.
Similarly, if you wish to really become successful, Marlon has created an impressive range of quality INFO products, including how to make your own. He's streamlined the whole process of becoming successful in internet marketing to almost point & click simplicity. I've reviewed just a few of his many products...
Formerly known as MLM, network marketing has moved into the mainstream with long-running successes like Mary Kay Cosmetics, Amway & Herbalife. However, the many company malpractices and shoddy products have tainted this form of marketing (online & offline) in many people's eyes. Nevertheless, if you find a good company, it can certainly be financially rewarding
Xango Presently the 4th biggest network marketing company in the world with an awesome product
Search Big Daddy A real outsider with some great ideas
The Holy Grail of many internet marketers. During 2008 I hope to build this section into a comprehensive overview of presently available methods of list building.
