Choosing A PRO Autoresponder
If you have an opt-in list, you can't send out your newsletter or pre-written sales messages manually, it's too laborious, you've got to have an autoresponder to perform all the follow-up tasks.
However, which do you choose which from the many services available? Well, there are a number of options:
1 Installing autoresponder software on your P.C.
I don't recommend this for three reasons:
1.1 your ISP may not be too happy with the amount of mail you're sending
1.2 you may lose your list if your P.C, isn't not backed up properly &
1.3 for the reasons in (2)
2 Installing autoresponder software on your servers through your web host.
This option is a hassle to attempt on your own and you've got to really know what you're doing unless your geek-flag is really raised high. Though some some web hosting companies are also offering this as a FREE service these days, I wouldn't recommended using their services.
Since the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 came into law, if you're busted for SPAM by a customer or nasty competitor, your hosting account may be suspended temporarily and your website may be placed in jeopardy. Why put yourself through all that aggravation?
3 A third party autoresponder
The only option, as far as I'm concerned is to have a third party autoresponder, preferably run as double opt-in, meaning that of you're accused of SPAMMING, the third party autoresponder service can prove that the mail recipient definitely requested to join your opt-in list (even if they've forgotten when). The bottom line is that you and your business are always safe.
Which Third Party Autoresponder?
The most popular Internet Marketing autoresponder is now most definitely Aweber, which has the capacity to:
-
personalized the recipient's name
-
run multiple campaigns
-
merge lists
-
test and track what percentage are being opened
-
test how many emails are bouncing
It would be untrue if I implied that the other top autoreponder services don't provide those services, they do! Aweber's ascendancy is that it somehow manages to get through SPAM filters far better than any other service.
If you're on any mailing lists, you should check your SPAM box. My experience has been that very few have been sent via Aweber...and that's why I recommend them. Your mail has a much greater chance of being read.

7 Autoresponder Tips:
1 consider is always starting your email message with a disclaimer, like: You're receiving this message because you subscribed to XXX. Unsubscribe INFO below (and ensure the link works)!
2 Personalize your message. Easy to set up with Aweber, it really works!
3 Keep your messages interesting amd minimize your personal life's details. "I fed the cat" isn't usually interesting.
4 Consider creating different lists for different types of traffic. You'd be surprised how this can turn a large unresponsive list into several small responsive ones
5 Decide upon how regularly you're going to post and stick to it, only deviating if there's something extraordinary happening. Personally, I seldom see that more than once a week gets decent results unless you're providing a freebie
6 Consider using your emails as alerts to your newsletter, which would be posted on your blog. Why a blog? Simply because:
-
they look good
-
they're easy to organize &
-
most importantly, your posts have a long life, especially if they're keyword rich. You see, search engines can then deliver traffic to your individual posts, long after you've written it. Without a blog, your posts will disappear forever into your list-members' recycle bins
7 Many internet marketers still use misspellings of words like free in variations such as f.ree or fr.ee to avoid SPAM filters. Aweber suggests that you shouldn't bother as it makes you:
